Point of departure is the FS train station at Vittorio Veneto (140 m/460 feet above sea level) on the Venezia-Pieve di Cadore line. Upon leaving the station, and after a brief descent one finds oneself on the statale [state road SS51] towards Belluno and Cortina as far as the end of the village; immediately after one takes, to the left, the provinciale [provincial road, SP 35] towards Revine and Follina.
The road climbs up to 260 meters/850 feet to Revine, follows along the lake of the same name and then comes to Follina, where one switches to the smaller road to Valdobbiadene. After three km/two miles one reaches a climb that is quite punishing and which takes one up to 400 m/1300 feet to Combai; one continues up and down vineyard covered hills as far as the village of Santo Stefano di Valdobbiadene, a center of wine production of Prosecco and Cartizze. There are numerous wineries along the way that sell Prosecco on the spot.
From Santo Stefano one descends as far as the village of Valdobbiadene; from here one continues on a flat road towards Vidor, Colbertaldo, Col San Martino and Soligo; from Soligo one can continue towards Conegliano on a descending road, which is wide, but quite heavy with traffic, or on the other hand, one can take the more peaceful, but full of ups and downs, Prosecco route, reaching first Refrontolo, then San Pietro di Feletto, and from here, with a long descent, Conegliano, where there is an FS train station on the Venezia-Udine line.
An alternative route is described on the page: la via del Prosecco.
