The starting point is the train station at Vicenza

The Colli Berici [Berici hills] are a spur of low mountains that extends from Vicenza southward, to within about ten kilometers [6 miles] from the Colli Euganei [Euganean hills].

Leaving from the FS train station at Vicenza start by taking the road to the right to the Santuario di [Sanctuary of] Monte Berico, on which one faces a steep climb and on a very busy street; after a kilometer [.6 mile] you reach a piazzale from which there is a spectacular view of Vicenza and of the Alps; it is a shame that the piazzale has been reduced to being a crowded parking lot from which it is difficult to extricate oneself.

After the Santuario the road becomes much quieter and continues, with many ups and downs, as far as Arcugnano where one passes in front of the eighteenth century Villa Franceschini. From here one continues to climb up to San Gottardo at an elevation of 400 m/1,300 feet; after a stretch of ups and downs one descends in a dive into Barbarano Vicentino; from here one can continue to Albizzone and the Colli Euganei [Euganean hills], or head southward to Villaga, Sossano and Pojana Maggiore, where one can visit the Villa Pojana of Andrea Palladio.

After 10 km/6 miles more one arrives in Montagnana.
