The Po River Delta is an ideal region for cycling excursions; sparsely inhabited and therefore sparsely trafficked, the delta is traversed by many quiet roads and, obviously, completely flat.
The route that I propose here starts from the train station at Adria (reachable by direct trains from Venice and Rovigo). Exiting the station, head south through the village of Adria and continue south to the village of Bottrighe, which is situated directly on the Po. Here get onto the towpath road on the left bank of the Po, which in contrast to the right bank [Destra Po], is not a dedicated bike path; motor traffic is limited but the road is narrow and therefore ride with caution.
The towpath road runs along the Po passing under the large bridge over the Po and continues to Porto Viro, where you cross Strada Romea and at that point you enter the Po Delta proper; always following the Po you reach the locality of Ca' Pisani and from there take the road to Scanarello where you will be within sight of the Adriatic; ride between the channels and lagoons to Porto Levante, where there is a small marina; from here take the road along the Po di Levante [yet another tributary - RB], and then take to road to Mea to return to Porto Viro from where you will return to Adria by way of the route described above.
