A route from Verona to Lake Garda, in part on dedicated bike paths, and in other parts, on local roads but with little traffic.

Point of departure is the train station at Verona; across the piazza from the station (Piazza XXV Aprile), one reaches a bridge over the Camuzzoni Canal; following the route as indicated on the map one follows the canal for about 4 km/2.5 miles, as far as the suburb of Chievo.

After Chievo one rides for about a km/.6 mile on a pretty busy street (Via Aeroporto), therefore this is the least attractive segment of the entire trip, until one joins a bike path along the canal, and which one follows as far as Bussolengo. After Bussolengo, by way of Via Roma, one reaches the “Adige-Sole” bike path along the Biffis Canal, which runs mostly at a higher elevation than the Adige River and provides spectacular views of Valpolicella.

Coming into Ronchi, in order to cross the bridge over the canal, one has to ascend along a steep ramp until reaching a rotary from which one can access various local roads (look at the map for more detail), and then one comes into view of Bardolino, with breathtaking views of the lake.

From Bardolino continue towards Lazise along the lake on a walkway intended more for pedestrians than bicycles.

From Lazise one leaves the town and uses local roads, shown on the map, until coming back to the rotary, and now the descent back onto the “Adige-Sole” bike path; the remainder of the route is simply the reverse of how one came.
